Dsgalaxy1 shares his recent acquisition of a vintage Zenith Pilot Surf with a Caliber 2572 PC movement, highlighting its surprising precision despite being unadjusted. He questions why modern re-editions often miss the mark compared to the charm and quality of these older models, particularly regarding integrated steel bracelets.
such a refreshing combination... Really, a very handsome watch you found. Do you have an image of the movement? Best, Magnus
that ticks inside your watch (on the net): Cheers, Magnus
Mine is a little bit more dirty :-D
The movement is excellent by any standard, and the watch is very well made. (I have a comparable one, and it has performed very well.) While some brands' vintage watches have become very expensive, Zenith's have not. That may be because a lot of their watches from the late 1960s look somewhat, um, outlandish. But if you wait for one of their more successful styles, it's one of the most accessible ways to get true quality in watchmaking.
I am a fan of the integrated bracelet but few people are. Maybe that is why you do not see too many watches like this. Congrats!
surf on the caseback. As you can see, i think in that time someone in zenith had a huge sense of humour. I had some high-end watches, but this cheap one is even more precise. and it is NOT adjusted...
