Ornatus-Mundi provides an immersive photo report from the 25th Ennstal Classic car rally, where Zenith served as the official timekeeper. This post captures the synergy between classic automobiles and horology, offering a visual journey through an event celebrating pure driving and vintage machinery. Ornatus-Mundi's coverage highlights Zenith's deep connection to the automotive world and the spirit of classic racing.

The Mercedes-Benz 190SL (W121) was introduced as a more accessible and less complex alternative to the exclusive 300SL. Positioned as a grand tourer, it offered a blend of sportiness and comfort, making it suitable for daily driving and longer journeys. It quickly became a popular choice for those seeking open-top motoring with Mercedes-Benz engineering.
Powering the 190SL is a 1.9-liter M121 inline-four engine, featuring a single overhead camshaft and twin Solex carburetors, producing approximately 105 horsepower. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car features an independent front suspension with coil springs and a swing-axle rear suspension, providing a comfortable ride quality. It was available with either a soft top or a removable hardtop.
From a collector's standpoint, the 190SL represents a significant era for Mercedes-Benz, embodying the post-war economic boom and the desire for stylish, yet practical, sports cars. Its elegant design and robust construction ensure its continued appeal. The model is often sought after for its drivability and the availability of parts, making it a popular choice for classic car rallies and tours.
Thanks for such an amazing selection of pictures. I felt like I was on the front row. This has to be on of those things to add to any bucket list. Enjoy.
Based on the El Primero 36000 VpH Classic Cars (see my review here ): There were still some who preferred the 'ultra-flat' version: Best, Magnus
I really enjoyed reading it and the pictures were superb! Makes for quite a cool event
...was my fifth participation - and I just love that rallye! Wonderful roads, lots of kilometers, fantastic cars and very nice people! And nice watches, too! Certainly a lot of those lovely Zeniths. But also a high percentage of Rolex Daytonas.
