Zenith Official Timekeeper Copa del Rey MAPFRE

The 4^th and penultimate regatta of the season for the TP 52 Super Series – an important race and a royal event. The 34^th Copa del Rey MAPFRE , a celebrated international competition, will see 12 teams battling it out. Zenith will play its biggest role yet as Official Timekeeper for the event, which promises to be intense. 

A ROYAL OCCASION FOR ZENITH

The Copa Del Rey is the ultimate regatta for skippers, and a much coveted prize.

The Real Club Nautico De Palma, which organises the event, holds it in the very highest esteem. Closely associated with the Spanish royal family, notably Juan Carlos, a club skipper on the Bribón yachts, it is a byword for prestige, having amassed many trophies over its 60-year sailing history. The club is renowned among sailors for its high-quality nautical services. 

Perfect for skippers, its magnificent setting in the Bay of Palma, with its superb climate and sea breezes, makes the Copa Del Rey the only nautical event of its kind. Zenith is looking forward immensely to this event, knowing that to win the prestigious trophy the teams will be called on to display their finest manoeuvres, compete fearlessly and embrace their taste for challenge. 

The 34^th Copa Del Rey promises to be an intense week, from 1^st to 8^th August

Schedule: practice race on Monday 3rd August (no points awarded), ten races from 4th to 8th, including a coastal race on Wednesday 5th.  Competing for the 7^th time in the Copa Del Rey, the TP 52s will put forward 12 teams, almost doubling the 7 that took part in the last edition. This season sees 7 nations compete, reflecting the international status of the event.

The competition remains very close, with nothing yet decided. In the 33 races so far, eight of the 12 teams have recorded victories. While Azzura remains the favourite, a close eye is on Roemmers, having already amassed three titles (2007, 2009 and 2010) and another rival, Doug DeVos’ US "Quantum Racing", winner in Mallorca in the last two editions.

Zenith will have an eye on the clock... Its high-precision instruments and horological expertise will prove more crucial than ever in this elite, demanding competition.
