The Zenith Range Rover watches have paved the way for a new design language of elegant restraint, which is taken to the next level with the new Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition:

It comes with the same ceramised aluminum case of 42 mm, but a new brushed grey dial (without Range Rover logo!) with copper-toned details. Please also take a close look at the new black rubber strap with its inlay of black-toned perforated calfskin - resembling the United Kingdom flag. This leather is the same high quality hide used on Range Rovers and is secured by a triple folding clasp in DLC-treated titanium.

Movement is the well known El Primero 400B:

Jean-Claude Biver, Zenith CEO & President of the LVMH Watch Division said: “Zenith is the ultimate reference for chronometry (precision timekeeping), having won 2,333 chronometer prizes. The authentic Manufacture is a major player in the Swiss watch industry. Zenith stands for Art, Tradition, Culture and above all, produces real and authentic “museum quality” models at nonetheless affordable prices. It is essential that we preserve these qualities, as they all belong to the more than 150-year DNA of Zenith. We are here not just to run a company, but also to serve its brand history and DNA – just as Range Rover is doing. The main task and challenge we have in common is a determination to protect our tradition, but at the same time to find the right and harmonious way of connecting our tradition to the future, while showing extreme respect for our iconic products.”

(Range Rover Velar - you'll note where the design of the chronograph seconds counter comes from)

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer, added: “The Range Rover Velar brings a new dimension of modernity, elegance and a touch of glamour to the range rover family. The Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition, created with these very same principles, comes with a bloodline like no other and is refined for every occasion. It will stir the emotions.”

The copper / black colour combination is interesting, the lack of the RR logo and the non-overlapping subdials are very welcome details, too. I have to say the straps of the regular RR EPs are more to my taste but I am sure a helpful AD can sort that Thanks for sharing, Magnus!

Nice advancement on the last one but co-branding is a no no for me, I think I am going to hold out to see what happens with the EP-21 movement. Despite JCB's assessment Zenith have produced 3-4 winners for me in the last 12 months (Classic Cars, TIPO, 146 Heritage...)

The colour and clarity of the dial and the lack of branding... its a winner in my eyes. Can't wait to see at Basel. (2 weeks and counting!) Cheers Andrew

I doubt it will change but as long as they create enough clean 'pure' Zeniths devoid on corporate tie-up's I'm happy.

I like it better than the earlier Range Rover collaborations. Interesting strap, too. M4

I am impressed! But a few years from now will people be saying, "I have one of the 600 different special edition El Primeros from 2017" Will there be no iconic designs but only s calvalcade of variants? I still want one. Cazalea
