In an era where acquiring certain sports models has become increasingly challenging, 'One day just one watch' shares a refreshing perspective on expanding a collection beyond the usual suspects. His journey to find a versatile dress watch led him to explore Vacheron Constantin, demonstrating how market shifts can open doors to discovering exceptional timepieces from other esteemed manufactures. This article highlights his personal criteria for a dress watch and the unexpected path to his latest acquisition.

Well, it sure has been a while since my last post and in the meantime i have started looking at other brands and non sports models now that Rolex watches are virtually impossible to buy here in the Netherlands. And in all honesty, i was missing a dress watch in my collection after i sold my PP Calatrava a year ago. The reason for selling my Calatrava was that it was in white gold and now that i am over fifty years old i believe it is ok to wear yellow or rosegold watches, i like the hue of gold more and more. I have been looking at JLC, Cartier, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. I was offered a Rolex Cellini Dual Time with the brown dial and although i liked the look of it, i like my watch to show the date because of the work i do. When i arrived at the AD to check out the Cellini, i saw a VC Fiftysix in the window, so i asked to see that as well next to the Cellini. In the end i choose this one and i am really happy with it. Here is a first shot on the wrist.

Reminiscent of vintage pieces and reflecting refinement, good taste, and a willingness to choose what caught your eye rather than what is seen more often.

...and a great 'casual' dress watch. Beautiful strap, too. I've always preferred yellow gold simply because of my skin tone. My wife says I'm more of an Autumn-color kind of guy : )

A good choice. Your Fiftysix looks better than the modern times traditionelle.

Even meer waarom.

is about time that we all vote with our wallet against these brands that create an artificial scarcity (Rolex, Patek, AP).

a PP and Rolex😬) But the scarcity is becoming worse and worse and that takes away the fun of acquiring a piece you really like and want…
