We are at a friend’s Wedding here, it’s quite beautiful with tons of charm. Some notable things about the area:
- it was a originally a cotton farm with working slaves
- purchased by the state of Georgia and is a park now
- many wealthy families from the gilded age ( JP Morgan, Vanderbilts and Roosevelts ) had homes here
- first US transatlantic phone call was made here
- the last slave boat landed here

Worth a visit, if you’re in the area.

About the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ref. 4500V

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas represents the manufacture's modern interpretation of the luxury sports watch, launched in 1996 as a response to the growing demand for sophisticated yet robust timepieces. Drawing inspiration from the brand's 1977 '222' designed by Jorg Hysek, the Overseas has evolved through several generations while maintaining its distinctive integrated bracelet design and travel-focused complications. The collection occupies a unique position within Vacheron Constantin's portfolio, bridging the gap between the brand's classical heritage and contemporary sporting demands.

The current generation Overseas features the manufacture's signature Maltese cross-inspired bezel, executed here in brushed steel with polished bevels that create dynamic light play across the case's angular surfaces. The blue dial displays a subtle sunburst finish with applied hour markers and the brand's characteristic dauphine hands. The integrated bracelet system allows for quick strap changes without tools, accommodating rubber and leather alternatives for varying occasions. Technical specifications include water resistance to 150 meters and the brand's in-house caliber movement with approximately 60 hours of power reserve.

In the contemporary luxury sports watch market, the Overseas competes directly with the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, though production numbers remain more accessible than its Holy Trinity counterparts. The steel variants, particularly those with blue dials, have shown steady appreciation in the secondary market while remaining obtainable at retail. Collectors appreciate the Overseas for its relative availability within Vacheron Constantin's lineup and its versatility as both a daily wearer and travel companion.
