Tony (aperna) shares a Vacheron Constantin that has captured his imagination, prompting a crucial question for many collectors: the merits of purchasing pre-owned from a reputable source versus buying brand new. His post invites the WatchProSite community to share their experiences and insights on this specific reference, offering valuable perspectives on ownership and market dynamics.

My other question, would you buy something like this that was previously owned knowing that it came from a reputable source or would you go brand new?

Thanks for your help, all the best, my friends, Tony.

They are even better in person and the secondary market pricing is such amazing value for VC. So long as trusted sourcing, I would not hesitate to get more VC in the secondary market. Can pick up 2 quality watches for the price of 1 new retail. This is a beautiful piece with such elegant symmetry.

So sharp, classic and masculine. I didn't want to take it off. Case shape leaned toward formal but I would proudly wear casually too. Wouldn't hesitate to purchase a pre-loved example if in great condition. Congratulations on your refined taste! Best, Robert

The only drawback is that the calibre seems a bit tiny, but it’s not a major issue. Good hunt! Nicolas

...I believe he depreciation on these is considerable. For some that doesn't matter. But I have a friend that only buys new and doesn't care...
