KMII's original post beautifully captures the enduring appeal of dress watches, exemplified by the Vacheron Constantin 1972 Prestige de la France. This piece invites readers to reflect on the role of classic horology in a modern world, prompting a discussion about personal favorites and the timeless pleasure these elegant timepieces offer. His pairing of the VC 1972 with a vintage typewriter underscores a broader appreciation for design and craftsmanship that transcends eras.

The hotel I am staying at has typewriters in the rooms as one of the design touches. Made for a period correct / interesting pairing with the VC 1972 Prestige de la France.

Wearing dress watches is a pleasure getting generally rarer these days but it’s something that I always enjoy doing. They were a key element of horology for so long for a reason 😊

About the CHRONOSWISS Historiques Ref. 1972Prestige

The Chronoswiss Historiques 1972Prestige is a distinctive model within the Historiques collection, characterized by its non-traditional case shape. It represents Chronoswiss's exploration of design beyond conventional round forms, offering a unique aesthetic that appeals to collectors seeking individuality and historical design influences from the early 1970s. This reference stands out for its commitment to a specific period's design language while maintaining Chronoswiss's signature attention to detail.

The watch features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm x 38mm, which houses the automatic caliber C. 125. This movement provides a power reserve of 40 hours. The silver dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring clarity and durability. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion. The fixed bezel complements the overall case design.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate independent watchmaking and specific vintage design cues, particularly those drawn to the 1970s aesthetic. It offers a blend of traditional craftsmanship with a less common case silhouette, making it a noteworthy piece for those interested in Chronoswiss's more experimental designs. The inclusion of a date complication adds practical functionality to its distinctive appearance.

It's always a great pleasure to see this one!

What a lovely and original design. And such a nice patterned dial. Predictably, my favorite dress watches are those of my trio...

Thank you so much.

1972 is my birth year so I might be biased ☺️, but I really think that the Prestige de la France is a very special piece (with the glorious cal. 1003, even if it's hidden by the case back). This model in particular, with white gold case but rose gold hands and Maltese cross: I love this detail so much.

I really love this one, so much personality!

I wear dress watches in most situation (jeans, suits, shirt, polo shirt, t shirt, etc.), and sometimes a more sporty Breitling. Dress watches are so nice, and time is scare, so why not wearing them all the time! Best, E.
