Nicolas (amanico) introduces a fascinating, often-overlooked Vacheron Constantin from 1988: the Chronomètre Royal Ref. 47022. His post, featuring detailed imagery, invites collectors to appreciate a reference that, while not the most famous, embodies a distinct period in horological design. This article explores the nuances of this 34mm white gold automatic timepiece, contextualizing its place within Vacheron Constantin's heritage and the broader trends of watch collecting.

The Patrimony reference 47022 represents Vacheron Constantin's dress watch offering in a 36mm case configuration. This reference features a silver dial presentation within the Patrimony series lineup.
The watch houses a manual-winding movement within an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter. A sapphire crystal protects the silver dial, while the fixed bezel maintains clean proportions. Water resistance extends to 30 meters for basic protection against moisture exposure.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a traditionally sized dress watch with precious metal construction. The 36mm case diameter and manual movement cater to enthusiasts who prefer classic proportions and traditional mechanical operation. The rose gold case material and silver dial combination provides a refined aesthetic suitable for formal wear occasions.
The mix of markers and Roman numerals makes the dial dynamic and interesting....
You have a photographic memory when it comes to watches… 😉
...so much that I forgive the date window. The Romans are very Patek 5050-esque...
Interesting to see the style, and given that fashion is made of cycles, we could easily see such styles of watches in the coming 15/20 years. For instance twin metals models SS/Gold are back on fashion after having been completely overlooked for years ! I am not a fan of the 90's style, but I am pretty sure I will love it in a few years time !
