respo recounts an exclusive Vacheron Constantin event during Madison Avenue Watch Week 2013, focusing on the brand's bespoke Atelier Cabinotiers Special Order service. This report offers a rare glimpse into the world of custom watchmaking, detailing the intricate process of creating a unique timepiece tailored to a collector's desires. It underscores Vacheron Constantin's heritage in personalized horology and its dedication to exceptional craftsmanship.

While this Patrimony Traditionnelle calibre 2755 is not bespoke, could one request a better watch?

I should have taken a photo of the buckle on this 1972 collection watch as it is diamond-encrusted and in the same asymmetric shape as the watch โ just a lovely, well-conceived detail that makes this watch sparkle even more.

The Chronoswiss Historiques 1972Prestige is a distinctive model within the Historiques collection, characterized by its non-traditional case shape. It represents Chronoswiss's exploration of design beyond conventional round forms, offering a unique aesthetic that appeals to collectors seeking individuality and historical design influences from the early 1970s. This reference stands out for its commitment to a specific period's design language while maintaining Chronoswiss's signature attention to detail.
The watch features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm x 38mm, which houses the automatic caliber C. 125. This movement provides a power reserve of 40 hours. The silver dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring clarity and durability. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion. The fixed bezel complements the overall case design.
This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate independent watchmaking and specific vintage design cues, particularly those drawn to the 1970s aesthetic. It offers a blend of traditional craftsmanship with a less common case silhouette, making it a noteworthy piece for those interested in Chronoswiss's more experimental designs. The inclusion of a date complication adds practical functionality to its distinctive appearance.
I feel dizzy looking at all those whirlwinds. Seriously though, looks like a great time was had. Next trip organized by VC should be the the gym ;-)
Wise words from our own "modern age Indiana Jones." Best, respo
I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself. Were any other collectors in attendance lucky owners of a Cabinotiers timepiece? (I would understand if they didn't want it photographed). Bill
Looks like it was a fantastic evening. I'm sorry I missed it. I was in NYC this past weekend, but alas, too late. :-( I did visit the Boutique to say hello though. Besides the usual suspects that were there, Doug Escribano from Christies was there as was Jerome from the the Manufacture in Geneva and I was able to have some interesting discussions with all. It's always pleasant to visit. Best, Joseph
I hope we will have a chance to catch up next time you are in NYC. But I am glad you made it to the Boutique. Did you have a chance to see the 2013 novelties again while you were there? Any additional thoughts? Best, respo
I am not sure if there were any Cabinotiers owners there, but I did not have the chance to meet everyone. Best, respo
