I guess this is another catch which I have to blame my dear friend Nicolas for opening my eyes to this reference 16622.

As a matter of fact, I had never paid much attention to this model till I read the coments and viewed the fantastic pictures of our Vladesque friend here.

A little search for pictures and comments about this timepiece in our site as well as in other internet sources just added fire to my greeddy spririt...  I felt that I needed one badly!

I had refused a couple of offerings of this model in the past, and now I regreted that as months passed and no other specimen was spotted.
Till a few weeks ago I found this one in a superb condition, with box and papers. I examined it closely and it looked like it had little or no wearing at all.

The dial of this watch is specially stunning: the silver frosted surface is something to be seen on the hand to truly appreciate it, and the little touches of red in the model name and its seconds hand add to the charm of this watch.

This reference is already discontinued, and a new version is offered with a beautiful blue dial, but still I liked better the silver dial of this previous model, which I find simply stunning.

After some negotiation with the previous owner the watch came home a couple of days ago. Not having time to take some decent pictures, I took this one with my Iphone just to share here the thrill of the end of a hunt.
I promise better pictures soon.

Have a nice day friends!
Very cordially, Abel.

About the Rolex Rolex 16622 Ref. 16622

Rolex Reference 16622

The Rolex 16622 represents a distinctive configuration within the brand's lineup, featuring a steel case paired with platinum elements. Produced from 1999 to 2012, this reference combines mixed precious metals in a 40mm case format with 100-meter water resistance.

The 40mm steel case houses the automatic Caliber 3135 movement, providing 48 hours of power reserve. Notable specifications include a bidirectional rotating platinum bezel, rhodium dial, and sapphire crystal. The watch is completed with a platinum Oyster bracelet, creating a two-tone precious metal construction.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking mixed-metal Rolex pieces from the early 2000s production era. The combination of steel case construction with platinum bezel and bracelet elements positions the 16622 as a distinctive option for those interested in Rolex's use of contrasting precious metals during its 13-year production run.

Until the last two years, this is the only Rolex that I like! Superb acquisition. I still see a number of these selling at the boutiques as recent as this morning...perhaps you can enlighten me on the differences? Congratulations! I'm sure this will bring a lot of smiles to you! Richard

... that you like this model. This watch has the reference 16622 and was discontinued, I guess a couple of years ago, when it was replaced by reference 116622 which is basically the same watch with a few changes in its movement, and a new beautiful blue dial. It is possible that some Ad´s in USA and Europe still have in stock watches of the old reference like that in the picture (16622) but if you say that you have seen today them offered in their windows, it is most possible that AD´s are showi
