My dear watch friends!

Sometimes travel plans change. And occasionally that leads to something unexpectedly nice.

We were actually supposed to be in the Maldives starting today. Due to the well known circumstances it unfortunately did not work out. At the moment there are no flights over Dubai. After a bit of back and forth we were able to postpone both the flights and the hotel to December without any problems.

Since both my partner and I are quite in need of some rest, we decided to do something different instead. We chose a spontaneous trip through Italy. Simply heading south and seeing where the journey takes us. Our starting point is Portopiccolo near Trieste.

For this journey I brought along a special companion: my Rolex Daytona Platinum Reference 126506-78HA06.

Watch by Rolex, Daytona, 126506, Platona

A watch that feels perfectly at home in the morning sun during relaxed daytime strolls. It also works beautifully in the evening.

Traveling with a little bit of horological pleasure always makes the journey even nicer. β˜ΊοΈπŸ™

Tomorrow we continue to Venice. After that we will simply see where the journey takes us. Cinque Terre and Portofino are definitely on our list.

All the best
Thomas

About the Rolex Daytona Ref. 126506

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona reference 126506, introduced in 2023, represents a significant update to the platinum Daytona line. This reference maintains the established aesthetic of its predecessor while incorporating the latest technical advancements from the brand. It is distinguished by its specific dial and bezel combination, which is exclusive to the platinum execution of the model.

This timepiece features a 40mm case crafted from platinum, housing the new-generation Caliber 4131 automatic movement. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and is protected by a sapphire crystal. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, ensuring its durability in various conditions.

As a platinum variant, the 126506 appeals to collectors seeking the most exclusive material within the Daytona collection. Its ice blue dial and chestnut brown Cerachrom bezel are signature elements that differentiate it from other metal versions. This reference continues the tradition of platinum Daytonas as a flagship offering.

We will be in Venice in August. Although I probably won’t sport a heavy hitter. Currently also wearing platinum, had the dial switched from baguettes to sector blue romans. Enjoy!

Are those that have occurred spontaneously. That is one lovely companion you have with you. I’ll be traveling to Miami tomorrow trying to think of what trio I’m taking enjoy your trip my dear friend, keep in touch and keep the pictures coming all the best, Tony.

I always admire collectors who travel with a trio. It sounds very civilized and well organized. In reality I am far too simple for that. On trips like this, especially when we travel by car and the luggage sometimes stays in the car, one watch seems to be less stressful. For this spontaneous Italian adventure the Daytona somehow felt like the right companion. A good travel watch and perfectly suited for serious Italian food field testing. Good luck choosing your trio for Miami. That decision is

Seriously: I can take care of myself, but at the end of the day these are just objects. Physical safety always comes first! And: I want to enjoy my watches and I am not willing to hide them somewhere in a vault. If one day a watch is gone, then it is gone. The potential loss is already factored in. Otherwise I would not really be able to enjoy wearing them.
