Squishytwenty7's recent acquisition of a modern Rolex, secured through a strong relationship with his Authorized Dealer, sparks a broader conversation about the evolving landscape of luxury watch collecting. His post not only celebrates a personal milestone but also signals a strategic shift towards vintage pieces and independent brands, a sentiment increasingly echoed among seasoned collectors. This article delves into the community's perspective on balancing established brands with the allure of unique, artisanal horology.

I've made lots of MB&F posts over the years. And I have bought a few art pieces from MB&F. Great brand. Great individual too, Max Busser is evidence that you can survive in a cutthroat industry as a nice guy. I don't own anything from LF, but again, great product. Check out Urwerk too! Felix Baumgartner is another great fella!
It looks great on you. It’s also nice to see someone with a balanced and selective interest in independents.
You caught a great fish 🐟
I‘m all with you in terms of what makes a great collection. Some Rollies, some independents, and some vintage pieces - what else do we really need?
Looks great on your wrist Best Gatsby
Though I’m not so sure about near future 🤣. I slow down a bit this year trying not to buy or trade too many. I really want to buy what I’d keep for now. With independent I want to take my time and make sure I really like it because it could be my one and only.
