Clueless_Collector shares the excitement of acquiring a Rolex Submariner Ref. 14060M with the rare 'Long F' 4-liner dial, a piece identified as a future classic. This post details the initial impressions of this neo-vintage Submariner, including its lighter feel and unique characteristics compared to modern Rolexes.

This has haunted me since reading Joe’s reports on identifying future classics...

Finding one in the US is not easy and I’ve no confidence getting one from overseas, cannot imagine the difficulty in dealing if the transaction or watch has issues.

This is also my first transaction through the famous C platform.

First impression, watch is lighter than the modern Rolexes I have. Bracelet is also “clingy” and feels thin. Seller did say watch was slightly polished so I assume it was the bracelet.

Bezel doesn’t turn for this model?

Serial number matches to the rehaut which is a good sign but note to other members who are still looking, warranty card may say it’s a 14060 instead of 14060M. This is true for quite a few other listings which we know it has to be a 14060M.

As at yesterday, out of ~280 (14060 or 14060M) listings, only 6-7 has this LGF in the 4-liner, so definitely something relatively rare.

Thank you Joe for the contagious 😷 posts 😊

About the Rolex bart simpson Ref. 14060

The Rolex Submariner reference 14060 represents a transitional period for the brand's professional dive watch line. It is notable for being a no-date Submariner, maintaining a clean dial aesthetic favored by many collectors. This reference succeeded earlier no-date Submariners and preceded later iterations with updated movements and materials, positioning it as a bridge between vintage and modern Rolex production.

This reference features a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, characteristic of the Submariner line. It is equipped with the automatic caliber 3000 movement, providing a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The watch utilizes a sapphire crystal, offering enhanced scratch resistance, and is water-resistant to 300 meters. The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with an aluminum insert.

The 14060 appeals to collectors seeking a Submariner without the date complication and its associated cyclops lens. It is recognized for its robust construction and functional design. While sharing many characteristics with its date-equipped counterparts, the absence of a date window distinguishes it within the Submariner family and contributes to its distinct collector appeal.

First and foremost....congratulations! The 14060 as a reference is a very cool watch. It has all the mod cons of a modern watch but it has the DNS of a vintage piece. A no-date Submariner with a vintage feel. For this reason itself, you have a very cool watch. With the Long F on a 4-liner 14060M, you also have a rare variation of this cool watch. How many of these LGFs out there? I don't know. Count de M suggests 5% of the 14060s is a decent estimate. Its a rare version. Big congratulations to y

The bezel should be able to rotate. Lighter than modern versions, of course - this one don't have the maxi case. Best Blomman

Next I’ll bring to a watch maker to see the movement if it is the 3130.

It is very tight and I was able to turn CCW. Is it bidirectional? I’m so hesitant to force it. Pls advise 🙏🏻
