A Rolex (crown) for Crown Comfort?

Exactly the look on my face.

But that Baron guy is dangerous.

But he is damn right. It kinda suits me, no?

But let’s go back to the beginning. When it comes to watches, I have a somewhat “special” taste and a “special” approach.

I don’t go mainstream, I want something not everyone has. And when I find something I like, I go all-in and deep. That’s how I ended up with a sizeable collection of Girard-Perregaux watches.

If there was one brand that was stereotypical of “mainstream” then it has to be Rolex, and the Submariner is likely the most recognizable of them all.

On the other hand, I kind of like the fact that there is something special 99.9% never heard of and the another 0.1% need to look real close to see it.

The Long Good F(riday) 14060M.

It was still a difficult decision process…should I, no?, yes?...

But then, who cares what others think. I think it’s a classic Diver watch with great vintage roots, a tool watch and with an almost hidden little secret, the Long Good F.

Love is all around!

Thanks Baron for pointing my nose to it.

About the Rolex Submariner No Date Ref. 14060M

The Rolex Submariner reference 14060M represents a transitional period for the non-date Submariner line, succeeding the 14060 and preceding the ceramic bezel 114060. This reference maintained the classic aesthetic of its predecessors while incorporating updated technical specifications, making it a desirable piece for collectors who appreciate the traditional Submariner profile without the cyclops date magnifier. It is distinguished by its two lines of text on the dial, later evolving to four lines with the addition of chronometer certification.

This reference features a 40 mm stainless steel case, housing the automatic caliber 3130. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. A sapphire crystal protects the black dial, and the watch is water-resistant to 300 meters. The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with an aluminum insert, characteristic of Rolex sports watches from this era.

For collectors, the 14060M is significant as one of the last Submariner models to feature drilled lug holes on some early examples and an aluminum bezel insert, elements that appeal to enthusiasts of earlier Rolex designs. Its production run saw minor variations, particularly in dial text, which are points of interest for detailed study among collectors. It bridges the gap between the vintage and modern eras of the Submariner.

Very unexpected for you my friend. Looks great, though, no denying that. So, if my math is right, already 2 people have been swayed by Baron's post. And another one that happened to stumble into it (Arie, who else). That makes 3. curious to see if there are any others out there. I like this LGF moniker and story, it's slowly sucking me in.

A small step for man, but a giant leap for CC: congrats to it! The No Date Sub was the first Rolex that caught my attention and was always on my mind. Now, I guess the hunt is on ...

You wouldn’t expect a super standard Sub to be that rare. Especially at this price level. All I can say is: you snooze, you lose!

Call me ignorant, but one little letter makes this much difference?
