Mywrongwrist shares his initial impressions of the new Rolex Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary, Ref. 126600, highlighting its controversial features and personal satisfaction. This post offers a collector's perspective on the updated model, addressing common criticisms and celebrating its perceived improvements.

... here we are, I received some days ago the controversial new SD43 or call it as you wish
Really happy and in full honeymoon, as already said in another thread I struggle to understand all the critical comments this watch has received
My first impressions are all more than positive:
1) super confortable, removing the extension
2) 22mm lugs mich more balanced than the 20mm Deep Sea Bracelect
3) dial finishing seems to me a mix of gloss and matte, interesting one
4) cyclops adds something, I believe is a plus and not a minus
5) much easier to wear than DS
6) 43mm so criticized when Datejust went from 36mm to the current 41mm iteration, I really don't understand here the point, the increase can be quite difficult to perceive if you compare it to a standard 40mm (@ least imho)
7) thickness distributed on a slightly higher diameter more acceptable (again imho)
8) new movemet, here I think a big step forward
At the end a great addition, but I'm curious to listen to your opinion, since I'm sure that now many of you had the opportunity to see it and try it, so opinions will be not be based merely on official or live pics found on the web/IG
I think I found the perfect watch for this and many forthcoming summers
Below some pics, as soon as I can I'll post some pics with my DeepSea and devil 666 just to make a comparison
Looking forward to hearing from you
Best
Luca

I will be getting mine on Tuesday next week. Can't wait! To me it is much improved over the previous SD. It could be a bit smaller but I guess I will manage to wear it. But dial, case, bracelet and even hands (now balanced in size and reaching all the way to the minute markers! Love!) are all improvements. Enjoy yours in the best of health!

Not a criticism - this still looks "nice" - but the larger size loses the charm of the 116600. I also don't care for the massive cyclops. The 116600 is "just right" proportion wise, this one is not for my tastes.

... I'm not an authority either but honestly I found this iteration much better than the last one, which honestly imho was not appealing Another thing is if you compare the Anniversary with more "classic" SD, but this is completely another game I can't (not such a high net worth guy) and do not like to play (besides my humble 16660)... Thanks for the "nice" anyway I wish you a wonderful week end Best Luca

Forget all the drama about this piece: it seems to another great hit from Rolex.

You do not need to convince anyone of how great a piece it is; the watch has convinced you and that makes it a great purchase. I own or have owned many polarizing pieces (not that this one is really polarizing, I don't think it is that different) and I love loving what others don't Have a great weekend as well.

First, I've always liked the cyclops. So, while I prefer no date at all, if there is one, it might as well be readable. Second, the red letters are eye-catching and add some pizzaz. Third, as you noted, the new Sea Dweller has Rolex's top-of-the-line movement, the same as what's found in the Day-Date (please correct me if that's not right). I've fussed with the Day-Date and found the movement to be incredibly smooth and just plain solid-feeling. I'm ambivalent about the case diameter: 43mm can b
