Mywrongwrist shares his initial impressions of the new Rolex Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary, Ref. 126600, highlighting its controversial features and personal satisfaction. This post offers a collector's perspective on the updated model, addressing common criticisms and celebrating its perceived improvements.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller reference SD43 represents the 43mm variant within the Sea-Dweller collection, produced from 2017 to present. This reference features enhanced water resistance capabilities of 1,220 meters (4,000 feet), positioning it as a professional diving instrument within Rolex's sport watch lineup.
The watch houses the automatic caliber 3235 movement with 70-hour power reserve in a 43mm stainless steel case. Technical specifications include a black dial, unidirectional rotating black Cerachrom bezel, and sapphire crystal. The timepiece is fitted with an Oyster bracelet and maintains the collection's robust construction standards.
The SD43 appeals to collectors seeking substantial case dimensions and enhanced water resistance in a contemporary Rolex diving watch. The 43mm sizing and current production status make this reference accessible within the Sea-Dweller range, offering modern technical specifications for both professional diving applications and collection purposes.
I will be getting mine on Tuesday next week. Can't wait! To me it is much improved over the previous SD. It could be a bit smaller but I guess I will manage to wear it. But dial, case, bracelet and even hands (now balanced in size and reaching all the way to the minute markers! Love!) are all improvements. Enjoy yours in the best of health!
Not a criticism - this still looks "nice" - but the larger size loses the charm of the 116600. I also don't care for the massive cyclops. The 116600 is "just right" proportion wise, this one is not for my tastes.

Thanks for the "nice" anyway I wish you a wonderful week end Best Luca
Forget all the drama about this piece: it seems to another great hit from Rolex.
You do not need to convince anyone of how great a piece it is; the watch has convinced you and that makes it a great purchase. I own or have owned many polarizing pieces (not that this one is really polarizing, I don't think it is that different) and I love loving what others don't Have a great weekend as well.

Third, as you noted, the new Sea Dweller has Rolex's top-of-the-line movement, the same as what's found in the Day-Date (please correct me if that's not right). I've fussed with the Day-Date and found the movement to be incredibly smooth and just plain solid-feeling. I'm ambivalent about the case diameter: 43mm can b
