Following Descartes1 recent purchase of the Sea-Dweller 1665 Rail Dial, I thought I would dig mine out of the bank along with the 5512 for some weekend use. Sitting deep on the wrist and distinctly Sea-Dwellerish, this 1665 gives a lot of joy. As AlexSunrise would say...here's one "just for the pleasure"....

About the Rolex great white Ref. 1665

The Rolex Reference 1665, known as the "Great White," is a specific iteration within its model family. This particular reference is distinct from the Reference 1680, which the collector notes as a separate model undergoing a makeover.

This example features a case described as being in good condition. The movement is a caliber 1570. The dial is a servicedial with Luminova, marked as a Tritium dial.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking specific variations within the Rolex lineup. The presence of a servicedial with Luminova, marked as Tritium, is a notable characteristic for those interested in dial variations.

The problem I have with this one is that if I get it...

I would have to find the 1655 sibling.... As I already own the 16550 Rail.... Damn tempting! Best, Nicolas

With the 1665 Rail....

.....it is hard to find...as Marcello said, just 400-600 made....... but to find one with papers...ahhhh, that is some satisfaction.....but it took some time. I think you like the 1665 series....you know you like the Mk2 DRSD....but maybe this is a way of killing two birds with one stone.....even if it pushed you down the Rail Dial track..... ...a nice track to travel!

If I had to get one and only one, it would be the DRSD MK II Brown.

If I had to be reasonnable, which is something totally contrary to my habits, then I would go for the rail. I know two or three for sale.... Best, Nicolas

would have to agree.....

. ....Mk2 DRSD thin case tropical is a "Top Table" Rolex.....as you know....would be my last Rolex to go! Its one of those watches that has "something extra"

I have to say….

This 1665 RAIL is an absolute killer, and I am having the hardest time taking it off. Baron is a VERY bad influence. Cheers, guys!
