Chronometer (aka yacomino) shares his excitement for a new Rolex Explorer II black dial, a watch that rekindles a nostalgic connection to his very first Rolex. His detailed first impressions and stunning photography offer a compelling look at why this reference continues to captivate collectors. This article delves into the community's perspective on the Explorer II, exploring its enduring appeal and practical considerations.

20 years ago, my first Rolex, which i sold some years later, was a Rolex Explorer white dial.  Of course looking back i regret selling it but I always told myself I would get another Explorer at one point.  I had shared this with my AD as i have other reference I am trying to hunt for as well.  I guess I was happily surprised when i got the call and could not resist on the new black dial and its sexy orange accent.  So far my first impression are really great!  From its size, weight, looks, feels, bigger hands (compared to other Rolex reference), perfect chronometry, everything!  And of course it triggers nostalgia for me.  Here are a few pictures:

I course i will accessorized with some orange straps at one point , but for now I am enjoying the bracelet fit which i love!  I have a feeling this one will stay in the collection for good!
Thanks for looking.  Chronometer

I never was a fan, but all of a sudden I understood. Understated tool watch that I would love to acquire one day. Congratulations Yacomino!

It’s my favorite Rolex and there’s nothing like that new watch smell! 😅

This model brings dreams of hallmark adventures. If I am to go to Nepal again, I would not go without this. But I cannot afford it…it is so expensive on the grey market now.

That’s an awesome pick-up and one which will allow you to continue to showcase your strap mastery. Am I wrong in pointing out that it’s the only Rolex in your collection? Enjoy it, my friend Hussam
