Miles_151's original post sparks a compelling discussion about the Rolex Explorer II, a reference often considered an outlier in the brand's iconic lineup. This article delves into why this distinctive tool watch, with its unique design and functionality, might be undervalued and underappreciated by some, while simultaneously being cherished by a dedicated segment of collectors. The community explores its 'un-Rolex' characteristics and its enduring appeal.

It's a great tool watch in my eyes. Just didn't buy one. Perhaps in the future. Tfs. ๐ Cheers. ๐ป Geross
Yes what I call an original tool watch also. In line with the original submariner/sea-dweller and Milgauss. A must have for the Cave dweller Explorer who might not know if itโs day or night hundreds of feet above them. With its 70โs retro styling I have just always been somewhat surprised at its relative under appreciation. Especially when you compare it to a submariner with a tropical or baked dial for which people would sell a kidney to fund. M.
Such a special reference!
What about it makes you feel like that? M.
Two reasons to explain its " under appreciation "... 1st it is an " Un Rolex " Rolex. Very strong design but off the beaten paths. 2d, it is a 24 hours watch, not a GMT. But the first point is the reason why I love it so much! Best, Nicolas
How many times has it been serviced in that time out of interest ?? M.
