Besançon, a respected voice in the WatchProSite community, opens a compelling discussion on the Rolex Daytona's legibility, a characteristic often taken for granted in other Rolex models. His post challenges the notion that a watch's primary function—telling time at a glance—is universally met, even by a brand as iconic as Rolex. This article synthesizes community insights into the Daytona's design, functionality, and collector appeal.

Too bad because otherwise it might be my everyday watch.

the time doesn’t matter 😂. I’ve always said I like the black better than the white dial. Black dial = 51% White dial = 49% I’ve owned both for years ended up with both ceramic bezel versions since around 2016.

It is the most “Daytona” Daytona ever produced by Rolex, as it is the first Daytona equipped with an in-house movement. Ten years after its discontinuation, it has become extremely difficult to find unpolished examples. I believe the future holds some pleasant surprises.

but I've never worn it. I have usually 3 watches which I wear in rotation.

The number one overriding factor has to be its legibility. Without that the watch is more or less useless, especially as you get older! And that is one reason, why I have never owned a Daytona.
