Daytona. I wanted it so badly when it was launched back in 2016, but the hype and therefore waitlist made it impossible and so...I move on.

Fast forward to 2020 and I was presented the opportunity to purchase the 116500LN at MSRP. The love is no longer as strong, I took it nonetheless.

I am still undecided, not that I want to sell (sorry dealers, I’m not selling this piece, please do not DM me) but whether I enjoy wearing it, probably only wore it twice since.

Anyone has the same feelings about the 116500LN?

Yeah.

My AD asked me if I wanted either a white or black one and after considering and trying both on, I passed. It should have been something I craved but honestly, the hype and the actual look and feel was underwhelming. I was happy to let the next folks have the opportunity. Too many other watches that excite me more. Kent

I was the other way round - I wasn’t into Daytonas and other sports Rolexes years ago (was a dress watch, Lange/Montblanc Villeret/JLC/indies guy) but the herd instincts got into me (yes I’m weak minded lol). After I started getting my sports Rolexes from my AD, I was initially feeling “what’s the hype?!” But after wearing the steel Daytona, Pepsi, Sub for months and months, I grew to appreciate them a lot. I will have to give it a bit more time and see if I can develop a feeling for this. I admit it’s a really a lovely timepiece in terms of color combination, ceramic bezel and curvy case, but there’s a bit too much hype and being recognizable isn’t a fun thing, even posting here, I am getting DMs asking if I were to consider selling (sorry guys, not selling this piece, just that I don’t have the urge to wear it often).
