In a world often captivated by Rolex's latest releases, jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) reminds us to appreciate the unique charm of existing models. His post highlights the Rolex Air-King ref. 116900, a watch that, despite its distinctive character, often sparks debate among collectors. This article delves into why this 'un-Rolex' Rolex continues to capture the attention of enthusiasts, offering insights into its design, wearability, and market perception.

Thanks for this post Robin. I have been on the fence about this particular Rolex for quite some time. I will likely be getting one before the end of this year. I am also looking at the newer version of the Rolex Explorer, but your Air King has got me thinking otherwise. May have to grab one of each!
I think it’s discontinued.
Every US AD has a list of allocation for the year. These are the allotted models that they cannot order. They can use this guide in dealing with the customers throughout the year. AD still has one airking unfulfilled on the list, but was told that it’s not going to happen. Read between the lines.
I considered both too but I feel the AirKing is more special
Thanks for the insights
Once again, you have Vladded me to get a watch, this case being the AirKing Hmmm can Vlad become a verb now ? :p
