Rnaden shares his recent acquisition of a Rolex Air-King, expressing his appreciation for its 'un-Rolex' characteristics, which he finds particularly appealing. His post highlights how the watch's unique dial design, with its mix of minute numerals and hour markers, along with yellow and green accents, sets it apart from traditional Rolex aesthetics. This perspective invites a discussion on what defines a modern Rolex for collectors.

I’m eyeing this model off as well. Very un-Rolex that’s why I like it too 😀
A very unrated watch but a great one. Love mine.
Why is it un-Rolex? I haven’t handled this model yet.
It doesn’t have the conservative Rolex language, and the strangely confusing (in a way that I really like) mix of minute numerals interspersed with hour markers which isn’t a very Rolex things, and the use of yellow and green on the dial, again not something you typically expect Rolex to do.
I had read somewhere that the dial was a mix of a traditional dial and a Rolex dial made for a land speed record car (will try and find the article).
Sorry couldn’t resist.
