An old picture, the 5711 is long gone.  I’ve mentioned this before but I sold it when it became unwearable and every Tom, Dick and Harry, in addition to the dog on the street, knew what it was and how much it resold for.

That ruined the watch for me.

Jay — some memorable posts this morning — this one must have been hard to part with.

Haha, yes, looking at some old photos and reminiscing!

I did think long and hard, for several months, before parting with this. It was such a great watch on my wrist, svelte and comfortable and true to my preference style for watches (sporty). Alas, I didn’t like the attention and that stopped me wearing it. And I didn’t think that hype would pass, and I’ve been right on that so far (I sold it four years ago). Of course, my preference is always to “own them all” but that’s not realistic. So no regrets really.

My favorite 5711.

I would never sale it, and knowing the daily market value without research, it’s an added plus!

Haha, that’s one way to think about it.

I remember when Nauts were $10,000 used, no one cared about them.

Some of us still don't, but agree the recent financial bubble showcased utter insanity. Now that they are only 30m Waterproof guaranteed by PP, Kid Stern in a way eliminated the reason Dad Stern created them.

It’s a great watch on the wrist. I was smitten after trying a good friends 5712.

It was not “worth” the retail price even when I bought it. It was a little less than 3x a Submariner retail at the time. But it wasn’t ridiculous, and the Patek “halo” was something. Owning it I really enjoyed it, once of the most comfortable and easy to wear watches I’ve owned. And versatile, boardroom to beach no problem.
