KIH offers an exclusive look at Christie's Hong Kong auction preview, focusing on exceptionally rare Patek Philippe minute repeaters and unique 5004 references. This post provides a rare glimpse into high-complication Patek Philippe timepieces, highlighting their aesthetic and technical mastery ahead of a major auction event. It underscores the allure of these ultra-collectible references for enthusiasts and potential bidders.

The Patek Philippe reference 5004 is a highly regarded grand complication, combining a split-seconds chronograph with a perpetual calendar. This reference was a significant offering in Patek Philippe's catalog, representing a sophisticated blend of technical mastery and traditional watchmaking. It was produced in limited numbers, making it a sought-after piece among collectors of complex horology.
The watch features a 36mm platinum case with a thickness of 15mm, housing the manual-winding caliber CHR 27-70 Q. This movement provides a power reserve of 60 hours and is protected by a sapphire crystal. The dial is presented in silver opaline, offering clear legibility for its numerous indications. The case is water-resistant to 30 meters.
As a split-seconds perpetual calendar, the reference 5004 appeals to collectors who value both intricate mechanical solutions and classical design. Its production run from 1996 to 2012 saw various dial and case material iterations, though platinum was a prominent offering. The integration of two major complications in a relatively compact case underscores its appeal within the realm of high-end watch collecting.
Very nice to take them in hands and to hear their musical tones. Thanks for sharing. Just a dream for many of us!! Maybe one will join a PuristsPro house. Cheers, patrickh
would be my choice, if only ... :-) Ken, thanks a lot for sharing! Oliver
Special 5004 is really drooling for and those minute repeaters... Sigh.... Ken
And the sound.... Special black MOP 3939P.... Dream watch, indeed....! Ken
they (PP) really are the dominant player! Do you agree Ken? Thanks for giving us something to dream about. Best fernando
.... in the auction world. :-) So, if you someday plan to auction off your watches, it is PP that you should buy today. But loving and collecting is, to me, just a hobby and while it would be wonderful if I could make money from the hobby, I wouldn't shed tears even when I lose lots of money when I am forced to sell my non-PP watches...... Got to find a job soon! Damn! Ken
