I have to say it’s way nicer than I expected. The case is beautifully finished. The dial layout is very nice and what you’d expect. The big date is just big enough but not too big. I even didn’t mind the round movement in the square case (I love the 240 movement). My only regret is that it is way too large. It felt more like an OS RO than nautilus. And may be that’s on purpose bc Patek doesn’t have anything like it.

But when I put on the 5712 (my favorite of all the nautilus models) it’s not even close. The 5712 (IMHO) is just tops.

But neither was for sale. Just window shopping I guess…

About the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ref. 5712

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 5712 represents a 36mm iteration within the Royal Oak series, produced during the 1980-1990 period. This reference features a blue dial configuration paired with stainless steel construction throughout both case and bracelet.

The 36mm stainless steel case houses the automatic caliber 2121 movement, delivering a 40-hour power reserve. The watch incorporates a fixed octagonal bezel and sapphire crystal, with 50-meter water resistance. The integrated steel bracelet completes the stainless steel construction.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a vintage-production Royal Oak in the smaller 36mm case size. The blue dial variant offers an alternative to more common dial colors within the reference range. The decade-long production window from 1980-1990 places this reference within the early Royal Oak manufacturing period.

The Cubitus looks gargantuan on

your wrist, I think. And still based on pictures only, I fail to see a single good reason for it to exist, be it from a design or an evolution-of-the-brand viewpoint. Cheers Marc

An instantaniously jumping big date is a quantum leap for Patek ... but beare in mind: a quantum leap is very, very small! 😃

It felt big. The younger me would’ve probably loved it.

The FPJ on the first picture for me

The CB is so much nicer, no need for a Cubitus and save your money.
