Oliver, known as small-luxury-world, offers a vivid, behind-the-scenes look at Patek Philippe's 175th Anniversary celebrations in Geneva. His initial post, rich with anticipation and atmosphere, captures the meticulous preparation and secrecy surrounding this landmark event. This article provides a unique perspective on how Patek Philippe honors its heritage and unveils new creations.

The Patek Philippe 175th Anniversary Collection, launched in 2014, comprises a series of highly complex and limited-edition timepieces created to commemorate the manufacture's significant milestone. This collection showcases Patek Philippe's mastery across various horological disciplines, featuring a diverse array of complications and artistic crafts. Each model within the collection represents a distinct facet of the brand's heritage and technical prowess, designed for discerning collectors.
The collection includes models with a variety of precious metal cases, such as rose gold, white gold, and platinum, with dimensions and thicknesses varying significantly depending on the specific reference. Movements are exclusively mechanical, encompassing both manual-winding and automatic calibers, many of which are newly developed or highly modified for these special editions. Sapphire crystals are universally employed, and water resistance ratings vary by model, reflecting their specific design and intended function.
This anniversary collection appeals to collectors seeking exceptional examples of contemporary haute horlogerie and significant pieces within Patek Philippe's modern history. The limited production numbers and the complexity of the movements ensure their continued relevance in the secondary market. The collection includes a wide spectrum of complications, from world timers and chronographs to grand complications, offering a varied selection for different collecting interests.
I would also love to get at later stage your personal opinion about the new pieces. I have formed already mine. Best, Kari

Many collectors, all kind of fans to talk with... Thank you so much for taking the time to share this event with us. I'm really looking forward to read this. And of course I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion on novelties, especially on the Chrono 5975 I like a lot. Cheers, Mark
so much better, IMHO, than the 150th (but now the quartz crisis if over, and it's a different horological world). -Dean
it was a pleasure to meet you again Oliver ! Nice post too , must have been a very special event.. As for the watches .... what could I ask more ... a very nice worldtimer and a great chronograph. That ultra complicated piece is a work of art. Maybe not for me ( definitely not for my wallet :-) but I admire the work that went into that piece. When I saw the pictures in that book ... the engraving is the best I ever saw.
I know what you are talking about and looked at it once more in my "office at the lake" ... Enough (watches) for today ... ... because when I came back home from Geneva already the next invitation by an AD was in my mail box :-) Best, Oliver
