With my PAM 384 at the shops for another 8-9 weeks at the very least, I’m having serious PAM withdrawals and am in a deep Bettarini rabbit hole.

Serious contenders for my next PAM are the

1. PAM 176

Titanium. 2 hands. Sandwich dial. No Crown guard signage

Lovely-finished Unitas movement.

2. PAM 00010

White lacquer dial with black lacquer numerals and dot lume. Once again, no seconds hand or crown guard signage. Closed caseback. A venerable purist has one of these, and infected me with the fever (you know who you are)

What would get your vote? Do you one of these, or similar versions? I’ve never worn or tried the fit of a Bettarini base model PAM. Any qualms about the fit? I’ve got a flat 6.5 inch wrist

Thanks for looking

Hussam

About the Panerai PAM00176 - Luminor Base Ref. PAM176

The PAM176 represents Panerai's Luminor Base series in a 44mm titanium construction. This reference distinguishes itself within the Luminor Base lineup through its titanium case material paired with a black dial configuration.

The watch features a 44mm titanium case housing a black dial. The titanium construction provides an alternative to steel variants within the series while maintaining the substantial 44mm case diameter characteristic of this model range.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a titanium Panerai option within the Luminor Base collection. The combination of the 44mm case size with titanium construction and black dial creates a specific variant that fills a particular position in the broader PAM catalog for those preferring this material and aesthetic combination.

Easy decision for me. 176 would be my choice. Clean and simple! Had one. Sold it and have missed it ever since. The Unitas movement looked better than their later in-house options!

Awesome!

Any old wrist shots lying around, by any chance ?

Unfortunately no. The closest thing I have to a 176 is a 562. Also 44mm, sandwich dial, clean and simple, titanium with dark brown dial and has the 8 day in-house inside.

This is similar and a very nice watch IMHO. You should try to find one to see what you think. Might be easier to find than a 176 also.

Looks great. Not many panerai’s pop up in the second hand market where I live. So I have to go by purists’ suggestions, sometimes

176, or 55 w/ brown dial.

I worry about the versatility of those brown-dialed titanium-cased PAM’s

. But I’m happy to be convinced otherwise
