Dr No details the culmination of his Omega Constellation project, focusing on the meticulous process of commissioning a custom ABP strap to perfectly complement his vintage timepiece. This post underscores the dedication collectors have to personalization and the pursuit of aesthetic harmony, especially when integrating modern accessories with classic watches.

. . . as the custom ABP strap arrived on Friday. You might recall these two posts:

My decision was to equip the Connie with a strap, which to my way of thinking requires the use of a deployant to avoid the kink a tang buckle inflicts on a strap. The design of the Omega deployant requires special strap dimensions (standard straps cannot be fitted), so my preference for a deployant combined with my desire to maintain a semblance of continuity by using one sourced from Omega made the choice for a strap an exceedingly narrow one: either an Omega-issued straps designed specifically for use with their deployants, or a custom-tailored strap. As I didn't care for the uninspiring basic black or brown Omega straps and considering that I also normally use a short strap, a custom-tailored strap was the only sensible option. I've had several Camille Fournet straps made to order, but I decided to check out ABP's website to see if they had an appropriate leather to match the Connie, and sure enough they had exactly what I wanted. I was about to place an order online when I discovered that TimeOut moderator Dr Ming Woo was on his way to Paris, and he kindly delivered the deployant and specifications to Nicolas, who in turn dropped them off at ABP. Here's the result of their craft, received in the mail on Friday:

Since Marius and I were making a trip to Van's store yesterday [see my preceding post], I brought the strap along for a custom fitting, and have been wearing it since yesterday afternoon . . . here's a few photos taken at sunset on the beach under a grey overcast sky:

Thanks to all who made my Omega dream watch possible, starting of course with Omega moderator Bill S for allowing me to acquire it, Mark in Florida for the 16 mm Omega deployant, Ming and Nicolas for conveying the order to ABP, and to Romain at ABP for creating a perfect strap to complete my '57 Constellation . . . cordially, Art

Thanks, Riley . . .

. . . I was a little concerned about the near (but not precise) match of the bronze stitching with the rose gold hands and markers, but I feel the subtle contrast is more appropriate for a watch of this vintage . . . cordially, Art

Looks fantastic!

Art, That's a great color combo for the Omega! Really like the rose gold markers on the dial. Glad that you sent the deployant to them so they get the perfect fit. Can't wait to see it the next time we meet. Wear it in good health! -MW
