One of my most comfortable watches and possibly the Ming that gets most wrist time. The size and thinness are very appealing (slides under any cuff, when needed) and as it is titanium on top, that makes it suitably light. The sapphire dial doesn’t have any digital guilloche tricks up its sleeve but is very appealing irrespective, changing its look depending on light angle.

And can be easily be dressed up or down by changing the strap πŸ‘πŸ»

Wishing you a great week ahead πŸ‘‹πŸ»

About the Ming 27.01 Ref. 27.01

The Ming 27.01 represents the Malaysian independent brand's entry into the traditional round case format, marking a significant departure from their signature cushion-shaped cases that defined their early releases. Founded by Ming Thein, the brand emerged from the photography and design world with a distinctive approach to contemporary watchmaking, establishing partnerships with Swiss manufacturers to execute their vision. The 27 series introduced Ming's exploration of classical proportions while maintaining their modern aesthetic sensibilities.

The technical execution centers on a 38mm steel case housing an automatic movement, with the brand's characteristic attention to dial architecture evident in the layered construction and subdued color palette. The grey dial features Ming's distinctive approach to legibility, employing contrasting zones and carefully proportioned hands that reflect Thein's background in visual design. The case construction demonstrates the brand's commitment to contemporary finishing standards while maintaining accessibility within the independent watchmaking segment.

As an independent brand operating outside traditional Swiss or German manufacturing centers, Ming occupies a unique position in the contemporary collecting landscape. The 27.01 represents the brand's maturation from their initial cushion-case experiments into more versatile case architectures, potentially broadening their collector base beyond early adopters. Limited production runs and the brand's design-forward approach have established Ming as a notable player in the accessible independent segment, appealing to collectors seeking alternatives to established manufacture brands.

This is my favorite Ming precisely for its versatility.

Your blue suede strap combo is excellent. Is that a Ming strap or other brand?

It is a Ming / Jean Rousseau Paris strap πŸ‘πŸ»

The one that came with the Ming 17.03 Ultra Blue. Works well in a casual setting but a tad too thick for more formal wear 😊

The simplicity and clear design grammar of Mings are compelling ο»ΏπŸ˜€πŸ‘

I enjoyed seeing your 18.01 H41 on the slopes and hmd4m's Diver the other day, too.
