A. Lange & Söhne NYC Townhouse Event

So I had the privilege today to visit the Lange townhouse (unfortunately I missed the dinner last night!) Lange took hold of the nicest personal residence currently on the market this week in NYC right off 5th avenue and central park to showcase their current collection. Here are some shots from the outside as I entered the townhouse, this property is stunning................

As I entered the building I was greeted by four different Lange employees, eventually I was escorted through the townhouse by Kate. (Thank you BTW!)

We took an elevator up a few floors (I believe there were 5 altogether) and exited near the top where we were greeted by Lange's new masterpiece this year, the PLM Tourbillion. I had my doubts when I first saw this piece in pictures but I have to say that this watch looks outstanding in person!

Next, we walked down a flight of stairs and I was introduced to one of Lange's master engravers.

We were allowed to let him view our watch to identify who engraved the balance cock. I was told that Lange has six master engravers on staff. The watch in this picture was the 31 day model in rose gold that one of the gentleman at the event had.

We then had the opportunity to see the watchmaker engrave a balance cock. It was really fascinating! It looked pretty easy after you got the hang of it, of course it’s not!!!

As we walked through all the rooms Lange had a sampling of artwork and books all around. Here of some of those pictures before we go to the next floor.

So the next floor down we entered a room that had a contraption showing how the chain worked in the PLM movement.

I took a quick look at that and walked down to the next level to see the new masterpieces.........I had to fight the crowd!

Thanks again to Kate as she allowed me to bring some of the big boys out to photograph. This is the first time I've seen these pieces in person and I have to say that I was blown away! I started off with the rose gold Double Split. This watch is stunning and I much prefer it to the platinum Double Split.

I took off Double Split thinking that this has to be the next Lange that I need to own and then I put the Phantom on. The doubts started to creep in!..........

From the Phantom I then went to the new Datograph Perpetual in rose gold and thought wow..........this is definitely the winner, the dial, size, and thickness of this watch is perfect!

Finally the last of the big four that I tried on was the Richard Lange PLM, when I had it on my wrist there was no doubt in my mind that this piece was the winner.

So hours later after having them all on and off my wrist I still couldn't give you a clear answer on which one I liked best. Each piece that I had on, at the time, I thought was the one I HAD to own. No watch company right now gives me that feeling other than Lange. With that being said I would be thrilled to own any one of those four pieces but if you put a gun to my head it would be a coin flip between the Dato Perpetual and the Richard Lange PLM. (with a slight preference to the PLM,.........Edwin, you’re a lucky guy!!!)

After I cooled off I was taken down to the last room where everybody was going to sit have some wine, scotch, cigars, and look at all of the pieces again. Unfortunately I couldn't stay any longer, here was the room.......

Thanks again to the people at Lange, this was an outstanding event, one of the best I've been to and I think that anyone who visited this week would agree with me. I can't wait until next year! I hope you all enjoyed the post.
