Donizetti seeks community input on consolidating his A. Lange & Söhne collection, specifically considering his Datograph, Langematik Perpetual, and Double Split. He explores options to streamline his collection while retaining key complications like chronograph, perpetual calendar, and rattrapante, contemplating new acquisitions like the Datograph Perpetual in white gold or the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual.

Dear all,

I would be interested in your opinion about the following plan. I would like to somewhat reduce the number of my watches. I am looking at these three from my current lineup (all PT and the older models):

Datograph

Langematik Perpetual

Double Split

I love them all but recently I have neglected the Datograph for the Double Split.
Recently I saw the Datograph Perpetual in WG for the first time and was quite smitten with it (I do not love the dial of the PT version and I don't often wear colored metal so the other two versions of this are out). That grey dial is wonderful.
I also like the Rattrapante 1815 PT although I would miss the big date a bit.

So if I want to keep the three complications chronograph, perpetual calendar, rattrapante, I could do the following:

1- keep what I have
2- Datograph Perpetual and Double Split
3- Rattrapante 1815 Perpetual

Curious what you think! Thanks, Andreas

For me, Datograph Perp without any hesitation

I also love the 1815 but I won't be able to use the date on it, far too small for my eyes.

That is an issue ...

... for me as well but the Dato Perp also is hard to see sometimes. Thanks for your input, best Andreas

Andreas... The Datograph is an icon. The Double Split is spectacular and unique in its category.

I would keep both of them. Or keep the Dato and go for the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual. Best, Nicolas

I think I have now decided to keep the DS

As for the Dato I agree with you completely that it is an icon but I\'d get the movement - plus free sprung balance - in the Dato Perp ... Best Andreas

I hate telling people what to do with their collections

unless I'm just kidding around-like telling Vlad to buy everything he sees. But this dilemma I can really appreciate. If you feel a need to reduce numbers a good idea would be to follow Nico's advice-keep the Dato and add the 1815 RPC. If you want to get it down to just one, get the Dato Perpetual-you'll have a PC/Flyback with a large date, and a magnificent version of the Dato movement. But you could also consider keeping what you have and adding the RPC. 4 phenomenal Langes are better than 1 o
