Robin (jrwong23) shares his enduring appreciation for the A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 in rose gold, a piece acquired early in his collecting journey. His reflection on the lasting appeal of "classic" designs over "novelties" invites readers to consider the timelessness of horological aesthetics. This article delves into why certain watches, like the Lange 1, maintain their allure for collectors over nearly a decade.

Got this back in 2014, back in the early days of my collecting journey. Still one of my faves today. The Lange 1 stands the test of time and still makes me smile smile Over the last almost 10 years of collecting, my experience is the "classics" last longer for me than the "novelties", I mean in terms of design. Maybe I'm a more conservative person or ... maybe I'm getting old ! :p Cheers Robin

The Lange 1 has been my grail for years

I adore this watch, to me it has the most beautiful dial design in the world. It's classic without being boring.

I too prefer classics over novelties! I learned that the hard way about 18 months ago when I decided to press the reset button on my novelties centric collection and steel all of them to focus on classic

The lighting in your picture is perfect to show the depth perception of this dial! 👏👏👏
