Ken and I we were very happy to participate to the Pre-SIHH event organized by Lange to unveil the Grand Lange 1 "Lumen". During these 3 days, in Dresden or in Glashütte, we could appreciate the warm welcome from Saxony and from the whole Lange team, visit the Manufacture, enjoy the beauties of the monuments of the capital and obviously discover the newest watch.

"25": this figure was the common thread during the whole stay.

25 as the symbol of the big date display.

I remind you very quickly the reason behind the use of the 25 in all the Lange presentations and catalogues:

- the first reason is an historical one. The Lange watches of the rebirth were presented to the public the 24th of October, 1994. So the date 25 was used to get the correct date on the pictures in the newspapaers of the day after .

- the second reason is to avoid a confusion with a second timezone indicator. So a date higher than 24 was required.

- last reason is aesthetic. 25 is a harmonious number because there is a symmetry between 2 and 5. Flip 2 and you get 5.

The big date is the sparkle which led to the creation of the Grand Lange 1 "Lumen" and this timepiece is a beautiful watch.

It doesn't bring anything new in terms of horological contents when compared with the Grand Lange which was introduced at the beginning of the year. But it has an unusual charm which makes it very attractive.

But before discovering the watch, I propose you to browse some pics of the atmosphere around the event and the presentation.

Part 1: Dresden

It was my first stay in Dresden during the Xmas period! Honestly, I was a bit afraid by the negative temperatures and by the difficulties to move in the city due to the snow. But in Saxony, it is not like in Paris, snow is not such mysterious thing which paralyses everything. I was very seduced by the Xmas atmosphere in Dresden. There are several Xmas markets in the city and the white colour of snow combines perfectly with some dark monuments of the city. Dresden has something magic. It is of co

Fantastic job Fx

I couldn't believe there was again another picture each time I was scrolling down the post. You seem to have walked quite a while and I imagine now easily your attraction for this town. I also thought before that Dresden had been mostly destroyed during the war and surprised to see so much monuments still there. A good news for human historical memory. I also understand some of them were rebuilt (this last church really needs visiting), it was I guess a challenge, especially after the reunificat

Part 3: visit at the Lange Boutique

The Lange boutique in Dresden celebated this year its 5th anniversary. It is located in the historical center of the city, between the Frauenkirche and the Fürstenzug. It is a true flagship store, being the first Lange boutique in the world. I couldn't miss this opportunity to visit it while Lange is expanding its own network in the world with the recent openings in Singapore and Palm Beach and the upcoming opening in Paris. The Dresden boutique defined the specific style which can be found in a
