Hi all!

Since my introduction to mechanical watches back in 2008 - a humble IWC Pilot Chrono 3717 - I've been a lurking in this forum. Reading voraciously and profiting from the generous spirit of sharing by Purists. Many thanks to the members and moderators (both past and present). Can't believe it took me so long to make my first (substantive) post.

This year, was my year of reflection and consolidation.

After many moons of mulling over the relative importance of "artistry" and "value" in watches, I pulled the trigger on my first watch in precious metal, a Lange 1815 in WG. Amongst my shortlist of Vacheron's Patrimony Traditionelle, Patek's Calatrava 5227, and Chopard's LUC QF, the simplicity and presence of the 1815 spoke best to me.

This afternoon, after seeing Seeks' post where he shared beautiful pictures of his Lange 1 Soiree in RG, I went down to a dealer who had the WG version (albeit extremely old and not serviced).

The rest, as they say, is history.

Thanks! I love the 1815.

It had me dreaming of it daily for almost 2 years, and no other watch could displace it, and so I made it mine! Funny, you used the word "classic" - That was my concern with the Lange 1 soiree. Till I saw it in the metal and it cast its spell on me.
