Sascha's post, "Hublot @ Baselworld 2019 - the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon One Click 42mm," introduces a significant novelty from Hublot's 2019 collection. This article highlights the technical advancements of the HUB6020 tourbillon movement and the practical innovation of the One Click strap changing system, marking a new direction for the Spirit of Big Bang line.

Dear friends & Hublotista,

one of the technical highlights of Hublot's Basel novelties in 2019 was certainly the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon in a 42mm case.

And not only because of the great and maximum skeletonized Tourbillon movement with the designation HUB6020.

This version of the Spirit of Big Bang is also the first representative of this collection to feature the ingenious One Click strap changing mechanism.

The lovers of the Spirit of Big Bang have waited long and eagerly for this. It can be assumed that Hublot will also integrate the One Click System into other new SoBB variants.

The Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm One Click is available in two versions: one in a black carbon fiber case and one in a black carbon case, which looks much sportier with blue fibers.

Das schreibt Hublot zur neuen Variante der Spirit of Big Bang:

All the spirit of the Big Bang in a barrel-shaped watch: such is the new Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm and its carbon-fibre case with black or blue occlusions. This double edition limited to 100 models beats to the rhythm of the new HUB6020 tourbillon movement, specially designed for this case. Another first: the Spirit of Big Bang is, for the first time, fitted with the “One-Click” fastening system, allowing the strap to be changed easily and quickly.

while sporting all the codes of Hublot’s DNA. Starting with this Art of Fusion, now a signature in terms of materials: for the first time in this collection, the barrel-shaped case is made of carbon-fibre integrating black or blue composites. In the same material, the bezel is held by 6 H-shaped titanium screws while the case back, also in carbon, surrounds a sapphire crystal.

Structured, airy, technical; the driving force behind the new Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm is a concentration of innovations and expertise. The most emblematic complication in fine watchmaking, both spectacular and visual, the tourbillon—incorporating a mobile frame making one complete rotation per minute—offsets the force of terrestrial gravity for increased accuracy. Specifically developed for this barrel-shaped case, the HUB6020 movement reveals an hours and minutes dial off-centre at 3 o’clock, the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, and an indicator for the 5-day power reserve at 8 o’clock. Hand-winding via the large fluted crown.

For the first time, the “One-Click” fastening system, allowing the strap to be changed safely and quickly, makes its appearance on the Spirit of Big Bang collection. The two limited editions, in black carbon composite and blue carbon composite, with 100 models for each, come with a black structured rubber strap lined respectively in black or blue/black.

The straps of the 42mm Spirit of Big Bang One Click are by the way compatible with those of the Big Bang Unico 42mm. This allows you to access the full range of different straps in many different colors and materials.

Cheers,

Sascha

Can you share if there are further details on the black carbon composite and the durability of the material? I am very hopeful it is much more dent resistant than the carbon models from AP - which unfortunately remain pretty fragile after long period of use. Cheers Peter

... and wear them very often and intensively and on all occasions. In my experience the carbon fiber material is very resistant. No dents or scratches are visible. I know also some other Hublotista, which made similar good experiences with their carbon fiber cases also after years on the wirst. Cheers, Sascha
