Friends,
Yesterday I received a document from the Manufacture "Tip of the Week".
A document filled with fun facts about Girard-Perregaux and their watches!
I will of course shared them here with you!

Tip of the Week #5 Helium relief system
The Sea Hawk pro 3000m is one of the mechanical watches with the highest resistance to pressure (3000m). It features a helium relief system.

Below a depth of 70 meters, the air becomes toxic due to changes associated with the varying pressure.
Divers who dive to these depths use diving suits, diving bells, or an underwater vessel with an atmosphere saturated in helium to avoid any risk of narcosis.
As helium is one of the smallest elements, its particles progressively seep inside watches in this pressurized environment. In the case of a long dive, the pressure inside the watch tends to balance out with that of the dive. This poses a problem with the return to the surface and the depressurization.
[Here see on the Sea Hawk 1000m]

The helium that entered the watch progressively over several hours cannot escape more rapidly. Without a helium pressure valve, which enables the surplus pressure to evacuate once it reaches a certain level, the internal pressure has the tendency to escape by exploding the watch crystal.
