Crown comfort introduces the Girard-Perregaux Quasar, a significant novelty unveiled shortly after SIHH 2019. This article highlights the watch's full sapphire case, a transparent evolution of the Neo-Bridges Tourbillon Skeleton, and its impressive lightness and translucency, offering an initial hands-on impression.
Just 4 weeks after SIHH at the Miami Watches and Wonders, Girard-Perregaux released another novelty from the 2019 collection.
The Girard-Perregaux Quasar. It is sitting within the Bridges collection and is a not unfamiliar watch that was released last year. The Neo-Bridges Tourbillon Skeleton. But instead of a polished Titanium case, it now comes in a full Sapphire case.
While the Titanium version was already a light watch, the sapphire takes it to a new level of being very light and really translucent.
Light can go in and out everywhere and the overall transparency on the wrist has also been pushed up.
The case size has slightly grown to 46mm (45mm for the Titanium).
I only had a few minutes with the watch to take some photos, but it is very impressive in live. For a full review I need to wait for an opportunity to spend a little bit more time with it.

The Girard-Perregaux Quasar, reference 99295, is a notable addition to the Bridges collection, introduced shortly after SIHH 2019. It represents an evolution of the Neo-Bridges Tourbillon Skeleton, distinguishing itself primarily through its innovative case material. This reference showcases Girard-Perregaux's commitment to advanced material science and transparent design within its high-horology offerings, building upon established architectural principles of the Bridges line. It was presented as a significant novelty in the 2019 collection, highlighting a continued focus on skeletonization and material innovation.
This particular reference features a full sapphire case, a departure from the polished titanium of its predecessor. The use of sapphire contributes to an exceptionally light and translucent aesthetic, allowing for an unobstructed view of the intricate movement from multiple angles. The watch is powered by a manufacture caliber, designed to be visually engaging through its openworked structure. The sapphire crystal further enhances the transparency, complementing the case material to create a cohesive visual experience.
The Quasar appeals to collectors interested in contemporary high watchmaking, particularly those who appreciate technical transparency and advanced material application. Its position within the Bridges collection underscores its lineage and connection to Girard-Perregaux's historical architectural movements. The transition from titanium to sapphire for this design emphasizes a pursuit of lightness and visual purity, offering a distinct variant for enthusiasts of skeletonized tourbillons.
The reason? Your wrist shots say it all. Seeing through the case, you see a part of the sleeve, and a part of a hairy wrist... Even if both the sleeve and the wrist are among the best I know, this is not something I want to see when I look at such a watch... Best and thanks for this first write up, mon ami. Nicolas
This type of case is must today on the market and G-P again made very very nice job. Thanks for sharing dear CC. Chy D
No, but I'm with you on this. The watch is quite large and high and will not fit under a normal long sleeve shirt cuff, hence it looked like it looked on the photos. The black Neo-Tourbillon is my first choice as well. CC
not my first choice though.
Black Neo Tourbillon and the Constant Escapement...
most luminous and powerful and energetic objects in Universe. 1 Quasar can emit 1000x more energy than our entire galaxy Milky Way with some 200 billion stars...now please take a moment and grappa to sink it in ... current understanding is that quasars are results of activities of most massive black holes. Cheers D
