Blomman Mr Blue shares his impressions of the Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk Ref. 49970 in stainless steel with a grey dial, observed during a manufacture visit. He highlights its sporty aesthetic and distinctive dial pattern, while also posing a question to the community about its wearability compared to the Sea Hawk.

Friends,

At the manufacture I had the chance to see the Chrono Hawk in stainless steel with grey dial.

For me this is a typical summer’s watch!

Big sporty, casual dressed, ready for any outdoor activities.

The grey dial with the “waffle” pattern is really nice! Give the watch some good depths to the dial.

What puzzle’s me is that even if the Sea Hawk and the Chrono Hawk have the same diameter (44 mm) I find the Sea Hawk much easier to wear…

Any owners here in the forum that could share some experience’s?

Do you have the same feeling?

Best

On the one hand, I do like the bold shape and the depth of the dial. On the other hand, I need a bigger wrist for this watch to make sense. Here is another shot from me of the Grey Dial, without yur signature gravel. On the wrist, I prefered the white dial over the grey, but same issue with size. CC

A matter of taste, certainly. Best, Nicolas

Yes, this watch really requires a strong wrist... The white dial makes the watch look somewhat smaller. Not sure which color I prefer. Best Blomman

Case shape of the Sea Hawk would normally make me feel more uncomfortable. But here I agree, much warmer feelings for the Sea Hawk! Best Blomman

Can't really tell from experience, but would share the feeling that the sea hawk wears smaller. I still like its irregular dial layout and the wide lume filled hands Besides liking what makes me feel the difference? - could it be that pushers and crown guard on the Chrono Hawk make it appear bigger? - what about the dial diameter? Even if the casing diameter is the same, the Sea Hawk with its bezel appear smaller. So could it be that the same casing has different sized dials/sapphires? Thanks fo

Having played with both pieces, I saw a small difference in the lug design, the Sea Hawk lugs seems slightly shorter and bend more towards the wrist. In addition, the leather/rubber strap of the Chrono is more stiff tand thicker han the rubber only strap of the Sea Hawk. I believe this makes the difference on a small(ish) wrist. CC
