Samwan's acquisition of the De Bethune DB25 S Jewelry challenges his initial aversion to 'bling bling' watches, showcasing how exceptional design can transcend personal preferences. His detailed description of the 40mm titanium piece, featuring a spherical moon with diamonds and a blued Geneva sky dial, provides a compelling look at a unique high-jewelry timepiece.
I never would dream that I would acquire a 'bling bling' - for fear of looking feminine - but this one is so unusual and subtle that I simply could not resist: I first saw the watch two years ago at the brand's dinner and could not lose the image in my mind.
The DB 25 S Jewelry is 40 mm in diameter and 11 mm in height. What immediately captures the eye is the brand's iconic spherical moon, laid at 12 o'clock with diamonds. The back-drop of the piece I ordered is a blued-dial depicting the Geneva sky, held in a polished titanium case.
I just cannot put the watch down, can you?
Sam
I had the chance to wear it several years ago and I found it gorgeous. The dial is stunning and the gems nicely decorates the case. But the 40mm diameter makes the diameter/thickness ratio a bit too low and the watch loses its slender style. Fx
but I have a small wrist so the alternative of 44mm (without the diamonds and baguettes) is a no go for me. Best Sam
It is a nice and bold move but I can't fully understand it for this watch. I imagine the moon must be really impressive the way it is decorated. Enjoy it! Cheers, Mark
It is horology plus a piece of jewelry Best Sam
Just so happens the DeBethune boutique is next door to the VC boutique in Geneva. That\'s how I killed another hour after trying on the VC MR perp and that 4072 gem I posted before The DB boutique is a killer. They have everything in stock. I had a chance in NYC to first see this piece. But the lighting at th AD stunk. Yep, I am too in love Sam, enjoy yours. Nicolas, you and I keep dreaming! Best Joe
My own experience is that the strong spot lights in the boutiques usually make the watches more attractive than they actually are, so by the time I take them home.....I start regretting.... Yes, the DB pieces are incredible. Fortunately most of them are too big for my wrist Best Sam
