Browsing through a Chopard USA website, I noticed the following invitation:
"We have the pleasure to inform you that our Boutique at Harrods has recently undergone refurbishment and now bears renowned architect Thierry W. Despont’s design concept. This jewel of a boutique – located in one of the world’s most famous department stores – carries a full range of Chopard products."
Having a spare few hours before SalonQP watch exhibition opened last week, I sauntered into the hallowed halls of Harrods. Under Qatari management now since the buyout from the Egyptian Al-Fayeds, the department store is both changed and unchanged. There have been changes to the concessions and brands represented as well as management style. Some for the good and some for the bad....but that is not the purpose of this report.
I headed for my favourite brand - Chopard - with a stop off at the Cartier concession and Harrod's own Fine Watch Room.
The welcome was excellent, as usual, at Chopard. A welcomed oasis of calm and relaxation so one could relax the aching feet and partake of a glass (or two) of cool liquid refreshment. Depending on your predisposition, that could be sparkling water or wine! You could admire the new lighting system that makes the sparklers look more...er...sparkling or inspect the latest wonders from the Vintage Racing, Superfast, L.U.C, Happy Diamonds or Imperiale lines.
Alas, I could not tear away without bringing out the credit card for a certain shiny item that MUST-NOT-BE-REVEALED because the current Mrs MTF reads this page.....
The advantage of purchasing at the Harrods branch is that points may be accrued on the Harrods loyalty card, even in concession stores. What do points make?

If you are in London, drop into the store to check out my favourite quiet Chopard boutique......bring your wallet as you will need it.

Nilo, The Chopard Flagship Boutique in New Bond Street has more choice of product and space being three times the size of the petite Harrods boutique. Regards, MTF
The boutique is nice, but nothing beats your watch. As I have said before I just love your Purists Pro edition chronograph. Superb indeed! Cheers, Tom.
After the exclusive period for PuristS, the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition watch is now available from Chopard Boutiques. Of course, they may be spread out thinly across the world. On the day of my boutique visit, one was seen at SalonQP in London as well as the Chopard Astronomical watches; that was the theme of the exhibition. I was lucky enough to sample one in the Vienna Boutique (they were themselves surprised to have it). Much nicer in real life than in the already impressive photos. But back to Harrods, does that mean that they have three own stores in London (Bond Str., Dorchester & Harrods)?
The fourth London Chopard Boutique is in Selfridge & Co department store on Oxford Street. Furthermore, two London jewellers maintain a Chopard Corner on their premises: Kutchinsky Jewellers on the Brompton Road and Pacha Jewellers in the Park Tower Hotel on Knightsbridge. London and Tokyo are very lucky cities for Chopard boutiques.... Regards, MTF
