In a testament to the passion and anticipation of luxury watch collecting, Dr. Tabby (Spangles) shares a unique challenge: visualizing a bespoke Charles Frodsham Double Impulse Chronometer Wristwatch before its arrival. This article delves into Dr. Tabby's creative efforts to mock up his specific 22k gold case with a Roman numeral dial, a configuration so rare it lacked existing live photographs. His journey highlights the deep personal connection collectors form with their watches, even before they are physically in hand.

allow me to congratulate you on your forthcoming Charles Frodsham, a very special watch indeed. I did post something on this a while back and this watch ticked all the right boxes for me apart from its 42mm case. I loved the watch to the extent where I tried to convince myself that the short lugs helped the watch to fit my small wrist but the truth was that 42mm is still quite large for the physically challenged like me! As to your question as to why there were no photos of the 22 carat yellow g
When I finally have the pleasure of meeting you, I'll expect a 2m tall, ripplingly muscled leopard in an immaculate suit, picking his teeth with the carved penis bone of a lion. That's my imagined portrait. You're certainly right about the Frodsham, it is a reserved English chronometre with ostentatious English finishing to match. Stainless steel or white gold (which James Dowling is getting for his) makes the most sense. The 22k is unique so I had to jump for it.
I think I need to correct your perception of me to a 1.5 metre overweight midget with poor dress sense and a hairstyle all gone wrong impersonating a walk resembling Donald Duck! The 22 carat yellow gold model is unique in the industry. May I ask how long is the waiting list currently? I see the watch as an obvious alternative to the RW Smith Series 1 and if one looks at it that way, then the Frodsham can even be considered a relative bargain! It has the history that few independents can boast o
Someone on IG commented that the waiting list is 5 years, but that may not be accurate. It was 3 years as of last summer, so it may not be inaccurate, either. The RWS is extraordinary and even for a watch to be mentioned in the same breath is an honor. Certainly the CF is a cousin, with the English style and Daniels heritage. Both have that no compromise quality that is hard to find. I'm still interested in how Roger would compare/contrast the two Daniels escapements, but he wasn't keen when I w
Obviously two contrasting styles to drive a watch and both originating from the same man, the great George Daniels. If they made the Frodsham in 40mm, I would be sending my money over!
They are also very open and honest (in all things) that due to materials and work costs going up over 5 years, prices will go up a bit.
