His personal insights into wearability, dial aesthetics, and overall value provide a valuable perspective for collectors navigating a competitive segment. The Perpetual 1908 represents a distinct dress watch offering from Rolex, introduced as part of the Perpetual collection. It draws inspiration from early Rolex models and aims to provide a more classically styled timepiece compared to the brand's sportier or more robust professional lines. This reference emphasizes traditional watchmaking aesthetics and a refined profile, positioning it as a dedicated dress watch within the contemporary Rolex catalog, distinct from the Oyster Perpetual or Datejust families.
This particular reference features a case crafted from precious metals, typically 18k gold, with a slim profile designed for comfort and understated elegance. It houses a self-winding mechanical movement, specifically the Caliber 7140, which is visible through a sapphire case back. The movement provides a substantial power reserve and incorporates Rolex's Superlative Chronometer certification, ensuring high levels of precision and reliability. The watch is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal on the front.
For collectors, the Perpetual 1908 appeals to those seeking a more traditional and less overtly sporty Rolex. Its classic design, precious metal construction, and visible movement represent a departure from many of the brand's more common offerings. The collection offers variants in different dial colors and case materials, providing options for collectors interested in a refined, time-only or small seconds complication timepiece.
But first and for all, congratulations with your fantastic Bulgari. I enjoyed the pictures of your brand new Octo. Your list of choice is totally cool. You had a BM Riviera on your list. I am a huge BM fan, so i considered the Riviera. The cherry on the cake, i am looking for the same kind of watch type. I skip the Riviera, and the reason is, i can not find replacement straps for the future. Why? I know that i would love the watch so much, it will become a daily no doubt. So straps for replaceme
A beautiful watch especially with this lovely blue dial.
However, Riviera is fairly new model that just launched back in 2021. Based on the fact that BM expanding the line to 3 different sizes and even the new diver version, looks like they are confident about the future of Riviera, and i assume it will stay quite long in the catalogue. If the sales are good enough for them, i think they will supply the straps in long run. If you really like the Riviera, i would say you could buy extra straps. I have handled the Riviera and found the rubber and leathe
But theyy are not available here, and imported from overseas is nightmare with customs and tax; it just not worth it. Not to mention the service and repair problems because there is no GP dealer or service here.
The IWC INgeniuer is really a big MISS! It's way too expensive too! And the movement is really not that nice.
....looks very good on your wrist. Will have to take a shot at this when i next hit the shops Thanks for sharing
