Pingtsai presents a live video interview with Bulgari CEO Francesco Trapani, offering a rare glimpse into the leadership of one of the world's premier luxury brands. The interview captures Mr. Trapani's strategic vision, from taking Bulgari public to acquiring Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta, and the recent LVMH buyout, all aimed at expanding the brand's multifaceted empire.
Steering the helm of one of the top luxury brands in the world seems like it would be anything other than an unwavering feat. Mr. Francesco Trapani, CEO of Bulgari, performs the task seemingly with effortless ease. A kind of chess master of sorts, Mr. Trapani maneuvers his pieces in a brilliantly calculated and purposeful manner. Great-grandson to the founder, Sotirio Bulgari, he has been at the head of the company since 1984. He has led Bulgari through its public listing on the Milan and London Stock Exchanges in 1995, acquisition of Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta brands in 2000, and most recently the company’s buyout by LVMH. All are calculated efforts to grow the brand.

At the company’s current state, Mr. Trapani has quite a few “pieces” to work with. Bulgari is, in fact, a multi-faceted corporate enterprise comprised of ventures ranging from jewelry and watches to fragrances, handbags and hotels. The company appears to have a clear understanding of all things luxurious and indulgent, those fringe items that take an already pampered state of being to the next level.
Bulgari Hotel, Bali
Amidst the hustle and bustle of Basel, on a busy day, for a busy brand, Mr. Trapani is at the epitome of calm. He moves about the industry packed hall in a stride of serene focused energy. As we took a few minutes to ask him some questions, he spoke with a graceful eloquence that only comes with 25 years of successful leadership.

...Mr. Trapani's thoughts live and in person! Bulgari seems very committed to leaving their mark on the horological landscape, and the new alliance with LVMH is only going to help them attain more success. Great work, Ping and Ed! I'm impressed! Cheers, Daos
