Nitediver's exploration of strap options for his Breguet Type XX Transatlantique offers a timeless look at how different materials and styles can dramatically alter a watch's character. His initial choice of a chocolate brown alligator strap with white stitching, alongside the original steel bracelet and a NATO strap, sparks a community discussion on the best pairings for this iconic pilot's watch. This article delves into the aesthetic and practical considerations collectors weigh when customizing their timepieces.
New shoes for my Type XX transatlantique. I always wanted an alligator strap on top of the steel bracelet, and here it is:

I love the chocolate brown croco stra with the white stitching, and one can see the quality of the strap on the close ups.

Here are the other options: Original steel bracelet – the option I choose when I purchased the type XX.

And finally I love the NATO strap, it give quite a different look and feel to the watch, and is both practical and comfortable to wear.

What is YOUR favourite strap option for the Type XX?
Best,
Stefan

Nato? Cool. SS Bracelet? Why not, even if I am not a big fan of Breguet Bracelets. I would try to find a good rugged calf. Just my opinion, and the reflect of my taste, my friend. Best, Nicolas
...maybe I got influenced by seeing the alligator strap option in the Boutique. No you got another idea into my head, my friend....another strap wont hurt, after all :-) Enjoy the Sunday Stefan
I don't care for bracelets, so mine is in storage and will be mint for the next owner. I tried a chocolate gator, but thought it was too dark, so now have it on a 'cognac' gator with white stitch. I do prefer a straight edge strap in order to view the fluted caseband between the lugs. Shame the OEM strap and bracelet cover that. This is the only watch I had to take to an AD who had the Bergeon pliers in order to remove the bracelet. With the end links being so fat, tight and fitted, I couldn't d
... Is not the same since I have an Aeronavale and not a Transatlantique. It looks almost same except that the bezel is polished instead of being mat, thus possibly a more sport chic look for the Aeronavale and less a toolwatch ( although I have nothingbagainst a toolwatch on the contrary, but it is just a different look ). This is probably the reason why I dared to put a honey color gator on. I have another interesting option but no pics yet since I hace just orderd it and I shall have to wait
I think the Type XX looks great on the nato. Even the croc looks good to my eyes. Oddly, I prefer the bracelet the least.
After long hesitation and reading about the origin of these straps, I dared this latest option Camille Fournet. Strong contrast that matches well with the dial, sport chic look just like the watch itself. Of course it does not have the beauty of the salmon dial version that boxes in another category (Hi Nico !), but however I like it a lot in this more simple version also...
