christianch delivers a compelling initial review of his new Breguet Tradition 7097 Automatique Seconde Retrograde. This article delves into the personal journey behind acquiring this timepiece, highlighting its upgraded size, rose gold case, and distinctive anthracite finish. It offers valuable first impressions for collectors considering this modern interpretation of a classic Breguet line.

Here is my first review of a new incoming smile Let me introduce you to the Breguet Tradition 7097 Automatique Seconde Retrograde!

After trying and flirting with several models I have decided go get this masterpiece for several reasons smile
At the very beginning of my watch collecting passion my very first expensive watch was a Breguet Marine in steel that will always have a special place in my heart. It was a watch I was wearing
for years, daily.

I remember when I bought this watch I admired the "Tradition" model (that was just issued that year I think) as something visually unique and with a big WOW factor.

Fast forward almost 10 years (and several watch later) I rediscovered this re-visited version released at Basel last year.

The Breguet Tradition 7097 Automatique Seconde Retrograde has an upgraded size to 40mm, a new metal (rose gold) and a darker finish (the original yellow gold model was 37mm and
the movement was also very yellow) smile

This is also the first tradition 40mm automatique featuring a new rotor and retrograde seconds -- something used by Breguet in other models too.

Here above you might have a better sight of the grainy/frost finish in anthracite. The 40mm allows the guilloche dial to be more present and readable. The retrograde second indicator
replaces the power reserve in the manual models.

A honorable mention in my section process goes to the Breguet Chronometer 7727  10Hz

The 7727 is also a fantastic watch with a very innovative moment and a very classic Breguet look.

Here you can see the new gold rotor with black polished mirror  finish. This rotor is directly inspired by other Breguet rotors of the past (e.g. in some automatic pocket watches).
Very coherent (more than the previous rotor in the 37mm automatic model)  with a stunning finish!

Here the watch on his way to his new home and at natural light smile

From the side the typical Breguet coined hedge...absolutely fantastic!

As we all know the first days of a new watch are not the best to post an extensive review but here was my first visual review of a watch that I love very much and looks and feel than
everything else in my collection.

Thanks for reading/watching this short initial review!
Christian

About the Breguet Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde Ref. 7727

The Rolex Cellini Time reference 7727 is part of the Cellini collection, which represents Rolex's more traditional and dress-oriented timepieces, distinct from its Oyster Perpetual professional and classic lines. This reference focuses on essential timekeeping, presenting hours, minutes, and seconds in a refined and understated manner, aligning with the Cellini's design philosophy of classic horology. It is designed to offer a sophisticated alternative within the brand's offerings, emphasizing elegance over robust utility.

This particular reference features an 18k Everose gold case, measuring 39 mm in diameter. It houses the automatic caliber 3132, a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex. The watch is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal, contributing to its classic profile, and offers a water resistance of 50 meters. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours, ensuring reliable timekeeping.

The Cellini Time 7727 appeals to collectors seeking a dress watch from Rolex that prioritizes classic aesthetics and horological tradition. Its Everose gold case and clean dial design make it suitable for formal occasions. The Cellini collection, including this reference, offers a different facet of Rolex's manufacturing capabilities, focusing on refined design and traditional watchmaking principles.

I have a soft spot for Breguet and have never understood why the Brand is enjoying relatively little love here compared to what it is. As an example, my wife got over 5 years ago Reine de Naples and we still both believe that from beauty perspective it's the very nicest ladies' watch around. Same with the Tradition line: great watches and the concept is very copied nowadays. Best, Kari

I am the owner of a Breguet La Tradition in yellow gold (ref. 7027) and I am not a big fan of the evolution of the new Tradition models (especially the 7057 which is a nonsense for me with the power reserve display on the dial side just put on the hour part just for 2mm more). For me, Breguet lost a part of his soul with these new models as they want to do a link between past / history and modernity. May be I am too peremptory but most of the novelties offer a disequilibrium in the organisation
