It is designed to appeal to collectors who appreciate horological tradition and the technical artistry of a visible regulating mechanism.
The timepiece features a case typically crafted from precious metals, housing an automatic movement. The tourbillon is prominently displayed on the dial, allowing for direct observation of its operation. The crystal is generally sapphire, providing clarity and scratch resistance. The movement is finished to a high standard, consistent with Breguet's production.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a technically sophisticated watch that adheres to classical design codes. Its presence in the Classique line underscores Breguet's commitment to traditional watchmaking. Variants of this reference may exist with different case materials or dial finishes, offering options within the core design.
Gorgeous movement. But tourbillons aren’t magical to me. Make sure that that complication alone will satisfy you.
and its wide selection of tourbillons, the 5317 being no exception! That 5 day power reserve was quite something in its day and still is actually. The engraved movement is a huge plus and I will not even mention the dial
Something specific or just not magically delicious?
Anything that rankles about this one or just others sing more to you?
Very balanced dial. If the goal is to own a tourbillon this is the classic example. I think there are other Breguet references that are more graceful with more complicated guilloche but this is definitely a serious presence on the wrist. I wouldn't say no.
The engraved movement is part of the allure!
