Very fine and rare, astronomic, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with round button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar, moon phases and an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle. Accompanied by a mahogany box, Original certificate, and a setting pin. Watch is in mint condition The 2nd series has distinct characteristics the first being the dial. The dial used on the dial will be slightly different and the date wheel will be sans serif, and the font is slightly different This watch also has leaf hands vs the baton hands used on later dated watches. The hour markers are squared off on the ends vs. triangular on the later models Lastly the 2nd generation cam with only one (solid) back vs. the later models which came with a see through and solid back. The Patek Philippe 3970 is dis-continued and is one of the most sought after watches on the market today. It’s not known the qty of 3970’s 2nd series were made but are in relatively smaller numbers when compared against the 3rd series.
