The Watch
This A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1, ref 191.028 was created in 2017 as one of the four timepieces coined ‘Blue series’, together with the Lange 1 Daymatic, the Saxonia and the Saxonia Automatic, in line with the blue dial style trend in the horology world. Yet blue dials are very rare for A. Lange & Söhne.
In 1997 the brand released the famous Lange 1, reference 101.027 with a blue dial. Twenty years later this edition – a renewed Lange 1 model with thinner bezel and fonts and an upgraded movement – was created with a deep-blue watch face. Following the tradition, it was only in production for a short period of time making this by now discontinued timepiece a rare find. It is believed that no more than 300 pieces have been produced of the 191.028.
The blue dial is handcrafted from solid silver and embellished with solid-gold appliques and hour markers with hands made of rhodiumed gold. Characterised by its unique decentralised and asymmetrical dial design in a classic 18k white gold 38,5mm case, it features a hours and minutes sub-dial with appliqué Roman numerals, a smaller second sub-dial at 5 o’clock, an oversized double window date display with quick-change feature and a power reserve indicator.
The Movement
The A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 191.028 houses the L121.1 caliber, as opposed to the L901.0 caliber from the 1997 101.027-edition. This hand-wound movement has a double-barrel with 72-hour power reserve and a free sprung balance with 6 eccentric poising weights.
The small seconds always stops at 60 position when the power reserve of the movement is totally depleted. Those who like to be accurate can easily adjust their watches in synch with an outer source.
Condition
This discontinued and rare A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 timepiece is in mint condition with only light hints of use and has perfect mechanical functioning. It comes as a full set, including box, Papers, wallet, manual and the original Lange alligator straps.
