It does exactly as it says on the box - strikes each passing hour exactly once. The mechanism stores for a period of several preceeding minutes, the energy required to raise the hammer, and then releases it on each passing hour.
I've got a soft spot for pink gold and this 2nd series looks "warmer" than the white gold 1st series.
I think L.U.C. are practising like an orchestra-in-training with the Strike One. You can imagine them adding more gongs as they get better at it. Then, the people who got these early examples of their striking watches can brag at WIS reunions in the future: "Aye - I remember when they were aural whippersnappers and produced their first baby strikers......"
